These are the types of projects we live for.  This one brings together so many reasons why we started this thing in the first place and wanted so badly to be part of this community.  A community very similar to the hardcore/punk communities we grew up in and are still proud to be part of to this day. 

REVERENCE:

Lou meant an unmeasurable amount to the hardcore community, the music community at large and of course his family, friends and bandmates.  We were, and continue to be, inspired by his lyrics & ethos, abundantly energized by the numerous live performances we were lucky enough to witness, and most importantly, filled with lifelong purpose.  "Scratch the surface, serve a purpose."

At the end of the day, these words from his bandmates we feel are the most important to share. "This year would have marked Sick of It All’s 40th anniversary as a band, and Lou’s camaraderie, commitment and enthusiasm were always steadfast throughout the years. We have lost a beloved friend and an iconic frontman. Lou had the power to raise everyone’s spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic comment, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world."

COLLABORATION:

Working closely with respected artisans in our industry to dive deep into projects to question our long standing conventions and test our understanding of process & ingredients is one of the most beautiful things we are lucky to be able to do. This liquid was conceptualized with our great friend Dan from @dekkerabrewing. We took the 6th turn out of our single, house culture rich, magic barrel, blended it for balance and restrained acidity, and then did an extended rest in stainless on beautiful Organic Petite Sirah grapes from Paso Robles, California chosen by Dan. It was so much fun working as a team to shepherd this beer along through so many changes and evolutions over a couple years.  The result is genuinely an awe inspiring liquid that as a drinking experience blurs the lines between beer & wine. Among friends, this begs for a lively discussion about what the liquid evokes, or really just any topic that is currently making you feel alive.

HUMULITY:

Produced for this year's @melesaswings charity event, championed by our amazing friend @yankeerunner77, which over the last 8 years has raised over $300,000 for cancer research and has brought so many people together to honor and remember the lives lost to this horrible disease. The Herd is humbled to be part of this amazing project alongside so many of our respected peers who join this fight by producing a homage beer or donating to the cause.We will be pouring this beer at the Melesa's Wings event this weekend and will be releasing it to the public in our taproom next weekend. We will be donating a portion of beer sales to the Lou Koller Sweet Relief Fund https://www.sweetrelief.org/loukollerfund.html as well as the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).
